Using the Oculus app

The app is developed for the Oculus Go and the Oculus Quest. The following instructions are about the app itself, therefore they should apply for both devices.

First, the app should be started from the Oculus Home screen. The app is listed in the installed apps overview. After the app is started on the Oculus headset, loading screen followed by a splash screen will appear until the app is ready. It will then show the login screen. Students can log in the app with their email address and password as defined by the instructor in the student forms in the CMS.

The login screen inside the app. Students need to log in here

After login, the student will see the course dashboard. The dashboard contains a list of courses that the student can select. The list of courses may differ per student, based on the role defined for each individual student and to what role(s) a course is made available. The student can select a course and the app will automatically download the course onto the headset. Previously downloaded courses will remain in the memory of the headset, so they don’t need to be downloaded again and again. In that case they will also be available in offline mode.

The course dashboard. The list of courses depends on the role assigned to the student

When the course is downloaded, first an overview of the selected course is shown. It shows the name of the course and a list of its questions If the selected course is a linear course and the linear course allows course mode selection (Student’s choice), the student can select a course mode, if necessary.

The course can be started by triggering the green start button.

The student will then go though the course as designed by the instructor. For example this quiz question where the student has to select 4 Parisian landmarks out of 8 options.

Example in the app of a Multiple choice photo question with 4 correct answers out of 8 photos to choose from

Once the course is completed, the student will return back to the dashboard. Now another course can be selected or the student can log off or close the app.
