Uploading media and Media Library

All image, video and audio files need to be uploaded to the server before they can be selected as backgrounds, answer images or scene elements in any of the nodes. At the left, there is the toolbar and at the top there is the ‘Media upload’ button (the one with the cloud and arrow) that opens up the upload side bar.

Toolbar at the left of the editor

In the side bar the right media type can be selected: a 360 image, 360 video, regular image, audio, regular video or an element icon image. Once selected, a media file can be drag and dropped onto the side bar or chosen with a file dialog window.

Upload sidebar to upload media

The upload might take a while and after the upload, the CMS will check whether the uploaded media is correct. When all that is correct, a preview of the media file (not for audio) with its ID and file size will be shown under the the upload. So this can be used to verify the media is uploaded successfully. There is also a ‘delete’ button to remove the just uploaded media file.

Alternatively, there is also a small ‘Media upload’ button in the media selector and media library, that will also open up the side bar. This way media files can be added whilst editing a node.

Media Library

The button at the bottom of the toolbar that resembles a several folders with a mountain on it, will open the Media Library. The media library helps to provide an overview of all the media files that were uploaded and to see where these media files are used.

Media Library

The window on the left is the overview of media. The media is categorized with tabs: 360 image, 360 video, (regular) image, audio and (regular) videos. So, select a type to see a grid with all media of that type.

By clicking on a media item, you can see information about this media in the Media Info window on the right. Apart from some general information, also the ‘used in courses’ show in which course and which nodes the media item is used. This can be helpful to find specific nodes, or, to find media items that are no longer used in any course.

Also by clicking on a media item, several small buttons appear on its sides. It is possible to see a preview of the media item, to delete the media item or to replace the media item. In case of the latter, the side bar will show where a new media file can be uploaded that will replace the original file. This will keep the references so the media will also be replaced in every course it was used. So e.g. when a media file (audio) that is used by an audio scene element is replaced, there is no need to edit the audio scene element itself.
