App styling

Some visual elements of the application can be styled and personalized to fit the company branding. The ‘App’ tab on the website opens a form that the instructor can customize.

Form to personalize app settings

The App name, keywords and description are filled in based on the New application checklist when EyeQ prepares and publishes a new application for a customer. This information is required for our publication process and official guidelines and procedures as laid out by Oculus. This information is used to publish a new application for the first time and cannot be changed afterwards.

Two colors can be customized according to the company branding:

  • Primary color: This color is shown as the main color used in the interface elements (buttons and outlines) in the app.
  • Laser color: This color is the color of the ray/laser seen cast from the controller inside the app.

There are also three images that can be customized:

  • App menu logo: This image is a logo shown underneath course selection dashboard and under the start the course button when a student can start a course.
  • VR background: This image is a custom 360º  background shown during all the menus in the app. If no custom VR background is provided, the background will be gray.
  • Splash screen image: This image is shown while the app is starting and loading.

These images have certain specific conditions to be met in terms of max pixel dimensions, file size, etc. The conditions can be seen in the popup after clicking on the little ‘question mark’ button. When the upload is successful, a small green circle will appear, otherwise when something is not right about the uploaded image, a small red circle will appear.

Upload form to upload in this case a splash screen. With the green circle that tells us that the upload was completed and the file fits the requirements

The images and colors will update real-time in the app, so when the time the app is started, it will automatically update and set the images and colors.
